Tasmanian International Storytelling Festival

The Festival of Seven Dreams
Sunday 31st August–Sunday 6th September, 2008

Sit back – listen and enjoy!

Welcome to the inaugural Tasmanian International Storytelling Festival which will fill venues, pubs and gardens around our beautiful city of Hobart.

This Festival aims to be as simple as it gets: people gather together to share stories – either as entranced listener or passionate storyteller, everyone will revel in this age old artform.

Storytelling lies at the heart of human experience—a compelling form of personal communication as ancient as language itself. For thousands of years, as people struggled to survive, they passed on wisdom, knowledge, and culture through the spoken word. Sewn across time, story-threads bind individuals to families and families to society, defining our collective values, beliefs, goals and traditions.

Now here at your doorstep is an opportunity to be entertained... a chance to journey and make transformations. From the trivial to the pertinent, from make-believe to the factual, from humorous to heart felt, this Festival will capture your imagination.

Participate in a workshop or relish in a range of events.
Experience storytellers from Australia, Canada, NZ and the UK.
Don’t miss this opportunity to be captivated by the best!
